What’s the difference between Physiotherapy massage and other forms of massage?

The aim of massage administered by a Physio is used to help patients recover from injuries, illnesses, or surgeries and to relieve pain and improve mobility. The therapist may use different techniques such as deep tissue massage, transverse friction massage, myofascial release, cupping and trigger point therapy to target specific areas of pain or discomfort. They will also work on improving range of motion and strengthening the affected muscles.

Normal massage, on the other hand, is designed to promote relaxation and wellness and is typically performed using light to medium pressure. The massage therapist will use long, flowing strokes to help release tension and stress in the muscles.

Here at The Storm Clinic, massage is regularly integrated into a session to release tight muscles which then allows the softening and lengthening muscle fibres. This way other treatments, such as manipulation or mobilisation of the joints, have a greater effect.

However if you specifically wish to have just massage therapy with me, where I have years of experience, please go ahead and book in.
